Creativity is showing imagination or artistic inventiveness. It is the ability to produce original ideas. This is a skill that every designer needs to succeed. But creativity in itself does not make a good designer.

A designer needs to look much deeper into what they are designing and ask a few questions. What is the purpose of this design? Who am I creating for? How will I reach out to them? Analyzing design from the creative process will result in more purposeful design.

To succeed in design analysis, a designer must be good at observation. He or she must study human behavior and how people react to certain words, shapes, and colors. Understanding the human mind can assist a designer in catching the attention of the target audience or consumer.

Good visualization skills can characterize a good designer. The ability to create a mental picture of a potential design is a valuable skill. A good designer can see a design for what it is and knows the message that it conveys.

As you can see, designing takes much more than creativity alone. But when it is combined with many other design skills it can be a recipe for successful design.
